Policy Statement on Spamming
Spam (unsolicited email), can be a real irritant to most of us by filling up our mailboxes with junk mail that we did not request. We receive calls on a daily basis from our customers concerning spammers and asking what can be done about it. We also receive reports from Internet services identifying spam email originating from within Site One!!! Impossible as it may sound, there are a few members of the Site One family who are contributing to the unsolicited junk mail problem, sometimes in a big way.
Our "Terms of Use" agreement very clearly states that spamming is not permitted from within our network and is grounds for termination of service. Most, if not all, Internet Service Providers have similar policies. We think it important that you know what our policy is and how it is implemented:
Site One enforces a "zero tolerance" policy regarding spam originating from within its network.
Here is the procedure we follow:
- Any report, from a credible Internet source, informing us of spam originating from within Site One will be thoroughly investigated.
- If there is any question that the identified source of the spam may not be responsible for it, we will call the individual and discuss the situation with them.
- If our investigation shows conclusively that the identified individual is indeed the spam source, their account will be immediately terminated.
- A report will be sent to the Internet source stating that the service of the offender has been terminated.
- We reserve the right to lock and/or impose a fine of $1,000 per SPAM incident or the cost of usage for the misuse of the service, whichever is the greatest.
- Legal action may be taken against any individual or group violating this policy.
We thought you'd like to know our position on "spamming." If you have any questions, please direct them to abuse@siteone.net.
